Career Planning Tips

It's normal to feel unsure or lost about your future after high school. Here are some tips to help you:

  • Making a choice now is only a starting point. It does not mean you will lock yourself up in one career for life.

  • You will develop your career direction over time - the more you learn about yourself, the world of work, and the more experiences you have, the better equipped you will be to make decisions.

  • Here are a few helpful things you can do to help you develop a career direction:

    • take an active approach to exploring careers, courses and occupations

    • speak to people about their jobs, study and career paths

    • "try before you buy" - get work experience, volunteer, visit workplaces, talk to people doing jobs you are exploring, etc.

    • attend course information sessions, Open Days, careers expos

    • find out information about the changing nature of work and what the future holds for different industries

    • stay curious and open to new opportunities

    • use more than one source of information in your research

Use the resources below as a starting point and don't forget you can book an appointment with us to talk through your options.
